* Thai cave rescue - the unbelievable operation that saved a football team and its coach. *
* Luang Cave, in Chiang Rai, is to be turned into a Living Museum to show how the rescue operation unfolded. *
Tham Luang Cave is a shrine to Jao Mae Nang Non, a mythical princess whose spirit is said to live there.
The wild boar ( Mu pa) academy football team (aged 11 to 16 years) and their coach became trapped in the Tham Luang Nang Non cave in the northern Chiang Rai Province, on 23rd June 2018, following heavy rainfall in the outside mountain area.
They were eventually discovered on a rock ledge nearly 5 km inside the cave, by two British divers 10 days later.
"How many of you are there? 13 ? Brilliant".
A slogan at the nearby Prasitsart School in Mae Sai (where six of the boys attended) read:
"You never know when you will need your English".
They were finally rescued in groups over a three day period between 8th to 10th July 2018 inclusive
The whole rescue operation involved a large number of local Thai and international rescue personal,
but sadly one local Thai hero from the Thai Navy Seals died in the rescue operation.
On 27th October 2018 they visited Manchester United football club in the UK.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was all smiles as he welcomed the Thai youth football team who were rescued from a cave earlier this year to the club's Carrington training base.
